Return to sprint

Hosted By John O'Neil

Mission of Return to sprint

The mission of Return to Sprint is to provide young coaches with consistent learning opportunities to help them become a better athletic performance coach. As the internship coordinator at Cressey Sports Performance – Massachusetts, I am fortunate enough to have the ability to affect the development of upwards of 20 young coaches each year.  It is my goal to help young coaches a critical thought process so they can continue to help serve their athletes, not by replicating what we do, but by challenging themselves to continually to raise the bar on the themselves. Return to Sprint is aimed at helping coaches to further develop their education when it comes to high-speed activities, including but not limited to, sprinting, jumping, and throwing.

Why this program was created

The free program was created during the COVID-19 pandemic in April, 2020, in response to several clients asking for bodyweight or limited equipment style programs. The E-Book is a collection of commonly asked questions during that time and my thoughts related to them. It is a resource intended for coaches to relay information regarding sprinting to clients.

What People Say About Me

“I started working with John the summer after my freshman year of college when I was 185 pounds. Since that time I have put on 25 pounds, stayed healthy, and continually gotten stronger. Not only does John write successful programs designed specifically to help an athlete achieve his or her goals, but he is creative and makes the process enjoyable. I would not be close to the player or athlete I am today without his help.”

” Returning to the soccer field after my second ACL injury would not have been possible without the help of John. John’s knowledge of how the body works, how athletes should train, and how to conquer my own mental game allowed me to have a successful, injury free season playing professionally overseas. He created strength programs and sport specific drills that helped me become stronger than I was before.”
